Reading Time

One thing the little muffin and I enjoy tremendously is reading time. She loves to play with her books all the time, even if I’m not reading them. The cute part is me having to flip the books so she’s looking at it upright. We read a lot. Every day, and normally 8 – 10 books.
Here are our favorites:
The Little Blue Truck by Alice Schretle

There’s actually a couple of these books and they are about a little country truck dealing with different situations. The writing and illustrations are great and fun.

The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Most know this book, it’s a classic! It’s about a caterpillar going through each stage of life. It’s illustrations can help with learning days of the week, numbers, and the cycle of life for a butterfly.

Wherever You Are my love will find you by Nancy Tillman

I love this book so much because the writing is so touching. It’s so sweet and the rhymes are well written.

Snuggle Puppy by Sandra Boynton

This book is adorable. Even our dog seems to love this little story too. I always sing every word of this book to my little muffin but I think only part of it is ‘meant’ to be sung. It always calms her down and brings a smile to her face.

The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton

The illustrations are adorable and this teaches little ones about differences in animals/people without technically focusing on it. The last couple pages are our favorite and I always read them slowly to my little one. She always snatches this book from me when I’m done and claps her hands. Most adorable moment ever!

Beyond the typical children’s books, I read her whatever I’m reading and omit any content I think is inappropriate.  She loves listening to me read to her.  We do this kind of reading longer than ‘baby’ book reading because there’s more context.

Feel free to comment below with your favorite children’s books and authors! I’d love more suggestions. I’m constantly buying new books for my little muffin.
