The bladder control horror stories you hear are real. When your baby starts gaining lots of weigh in the womb, there is limited space for your bladder and he/she will be constantly pushing on it. You can count on peeing 15 to 30 or more times a day. It’s one of the most annoying symptoms of having a growing human being inside you. I would get up two or three times a night to pee.
People will tell you to get your rest right before you have your baby but you will know that’s impossible with all the trips you must make to the lady’s room. I always laughed in my head when people told me to rest. I can honestly tell you the sleep I got after she was born was sooo much better than when I was 8 and 9 months pregnant. It was the kind of sleep I dreamed about getting haha!
Anyways, it’s only really bad for 2 or 3 months. It’ll be over before you know and your little one will be in your arms and your control will come back. I had a c section so it was immediately better for me. I know it’s a little longer to recover bladder control if you have a vaginal birth.
Many women buy depends for the few weeks after birth for this problem, and also for the bleeding. Whether you have a vaginal or cesarean birth you will bleed, for weeks. They say it’s typically 4 to 6 weeks but I got super lucky and bled for 8. Yea, super lucky. I bought regular pads and changed them as I needed to since my bladder was fine. Hopefully you can do this too, it’s much cheaper.
